-Yazdi Madon – Chesham Arts Festival winner – CVMVC soloist –
Amersham Rotary club nominee – Winner of the 2018/19 Rotary Musician
of the Year Competition
It is always rewarding when we see young talent progressing from the
Chesham Arts Festival, in which Sheila and the choir members play key roles.
They and the choir benefits from their involvement as soloists in our concerts,
and Yazdi’s performance on the piano at this concert last year, prompted
Choir member, Mike Armstrong, to propose him as the Amersham Rotary
Club nominee for the National competition.
With the support of Rotary, he competed in the District, Regional, and National competitions of the National instrumental section.
The final was held in May 2019 where he competed against eight other talented young
musicians from the UK and Ireland. Age 11, one of the youngest in the Final, he played three contrasting pieces which showed his skill and musicality, and was praised by the three professional judges.
We hope that Yazdi will make further progress in his musical career. We wish him good fortune, and look forward to him making the headlines when we can say “we knew he was good when we heard him with CVMVC when he was only 11 years old!”
